Polypropylene raffia yarns

Through the fusion of polypropylene, it is possible to obtain a yarn with a soft hand. The polypropylene raffia can be flat, fibrillated, twisted and spolled. For this reason it is very versatile and lends itself to very wide uses depending on the treatments performed.

The production process developed by CalloniFIL allows obtaining very high tensile strength. The toughness, or the ratio between the breaking load and the size of the yarn, can reach peaks of 7 g / Td, or a resistance of over 5 kg for a 3.5 mm wide strip. This allows our customers to use a thinner yarn for the same resistance, therefore:

Polyethylene raffia

Yarn in polyethylene raffia

Yarn with a resistant hand, excellent for exposure to the elements, wear and chemical agents. As for the yarns, compared to the polypropylene raffia, the polyethylene raffia has a lower melting point, a greater elongation capacity, a better resistance to UV rays and to wearing substances. Polyethylene raffia can be flat, fibrillated, twisted and rolled.

As for the polypropylene raffia, CalloniFIL has also developed an extrusion process that allows obtaining very high tensile strength in the production of polyethylene raffia. The toughness, or the ratio between the breaking load and the size of the yarn, can reach peaks of 6 g / Td, or a resistance of over 4.5 kg for a 3.5 mm wide strip. This allows our customers to use a thinner yarn for the same resistance, therefore:

Bioplastic raffia

Yarn of Bioplastics - MaterBi® raffia

Bioplastics are materials with characteristics and properties of use very similar to traditional plastics but, at the same time, biodegradable and compostable according to the European standard UNI EN 13432. This standard requires the manufacturer of biodegradable products that all packaging respects this specific, including the smallest parts such as the bag closing thread for the compost which in too many cases is missing or is naively replaced with polypropylene.

Thanks to innovations in the production process, CalloniFIL is able to supply bioplastic raffia for many sectors where sustainability, attention to the environment and the circular economy are fundamental.

As for the polypropylene raffia and the polyethylene raffia, it is possible to apply specific treatments to the bioplastic raffia such as coloring, fibrillation, addition of additives and more, following the specifications requested by the customer.
