The raffia is lubricated is performed during the winding and it is essential on the yarn used for knitting and looms, in order to improve its smoothness.

 

The main difficulty lies in the quantity of lubricant to be applied to the yarn to obtain the lowest friction coefficient. In fact, beyond a lubrication threshold, the final result is the opposite of the desired one, obtaining greater attrition. Among the many variables we must consider: the nature of the yarn, the humidity present on the material, the type of lubricant and the environmental conditions.

 

Depending on the type of material, solid paraffins (the most widespread) or liquid substances are applied, on request also certified for contact with food.
